At the stage of completing the application

Providing a fictitious address

The application must include the place of actual residence in the territory of Poland or intended stay, in the case of a temporary residence permit for the purpose of family reunification, if the family member is just about to enter Poland. It is about indicating the actual place of residence, not the address at which the correspondence will be received or at which the foreigner will sometimes be seen (e.g. as part of a visit).

Providing the actual place of residence allows the authorities conducting the procedure for granting a permit to verify (e.g. by conducting an environmental interview) whether the foreigner actually resides on the territory of Poland, and thus is one of the possible tools to check whether the circumstance indicated by them in the application justifies their residence for a period longer than 3 months or confirms the intention to settle in Poland. As the law generally provides for the refusal to initiate proceedings or grant a residence permit, depending on its type, if at the time of submitting the application the foreigner is outside the territory of the Republic of Poland, this information may also be used m.in. for the purpose of checking whether the foreigner was staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland on the date of submitting the application.

The place of residence should not be equated with the address of residence, although both addresses should in principle comply with the existing registration obligation on the territory of Polish, which also applies to foreigners.
