If the validity of the certificate of registration of residence of an EU citizen expires, a new (another) document is issued. For this purpose, an application for a new certificate of registration of residence of an EU citizen should be submitted to the locally competent voivode. This application shall, as a rule, be submitted in person, at least 30 days before the expiry of the period of validity of the existing document.

However, the requirement to appear in person to submit an application does not apply to minors and persons who are completely incapacitated. In addition, the requirement to appear in person to submit an application may be waived in particularly justified cases, including due to the applicant's state of health. The application shall be accompanied by up-to-date photographs of the applicant.

For the receipt of a new (subsequent) document, the same rules apply as for the receipt of a document issued for the first time.
