Temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner

General information

A temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner shall be issued to a foreigner intending to return to the territory of the Republic of Poland, who during their stay abroad has lost their travel document or whose travel document has been destroyed or expired, and it is not possible for them to receive a new travel document and provided that the foreigner has:

  • permanent residence allowed,

  • a long-term EU resident is allowed to reside,

  • permission to stay for humanitarian reasons,

  • refugee status,

  • subsidiary protection.

In the cases indicated above, a temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner during its validity entitles the foreigner to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland once.

In addition, a Polish travel document for a foreigner may be issued to a foreigner who does not have a travel document and it is not possible for them to receive a new travel document when the foreigner:

  • is subject to relocation or resettlement – the document then entitles to one entry into the territory of the Republic of Poland;

  • intends to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland or has been obliged to leave this territory – the document entitles them to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland.
