Uninterrupted residence

Uninterrupted residence means that none of the breaks in stay on the territory of Poland in it was longer than 6 months, and all breaks did not exceed a total of 10 months in the periods constituting the basis for granting them a permanent residence permit (e.g. 2 years in the case of a spouse), unless the interruption was caused and thus justified:

• performance by a foreigner of professional duties or performance of work by them outside the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis of an agreement concluded with an employer whose registered office is located on the territory of the Republic of Poland, or

• the accompaniment of such a foreign national by their spouse or a minor child, or

• a special personal situation requiring the presence of a foreigner outside the territory of the Republic of Poland (related, for example, to hospitalization, necessary treatment impossible to carry out in Poland) and lasted no longer than 6 months, or

• a trip outside the territory of the Republic of Poland in order to do internships or participate in classes provided for in the course of studies at a Polish university (e.g. a trip under the Erasmus program)
